Throughout the school year, NIE has a variety of first-class lesson plans available to you. These programs are date-specific and include classroom sets of newspapers. All programs meet required California state standards. Please check back periodically for more information on upcoming programs.
Living Black History: How Current Events Connect with Our Heritage: Each year, during Black History Month, the nation celebrates the achievements of African Americans whose lives have made a difference. As students read about the people featured in this section, the issues they are facing and the challenges they are taking on, have them look for links between today's achievements and events from the past. This is an ideal program to complement NIE's Presidential Inauguration 2009 series coming soon. Order your E-Bee classroom editions.
Presidential Inauguration 2009: To mark the Inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama on Jan. 20, The Fresno Bee is providing a news-based, Inauguration NIE series to help teachers make the most of this historic teaching opportunity. Order your E-Bee classroom editions.

The Stock Market Game: Student teams in grades 4-12 receive a virtual $100,000 to invest in stocks and mutual funds during a fall or spring game session. Students trades take place in real time, just like the actual stock market. SMG curriculum meets California State Standards in six core academic subjects. Teachers using SMG for the first time are strongly encourage to participate in FREE training opportunities. Prizes are awarded to top teams. Order your E-Bee classroom editions.
